IN WITH THE GOOD, OUT WITH THE BAD
CO2 vs. Trees and Lungs
The lungs play a role in our bodies very similar to the role trees play in our environment. Click here for a more comprehensive depiction of the similarities between the function of trees in our environment and the lungs function in our respiratory system.
THE LUNGS AS A FILTER.
Probably the least obscure objectification of the lungs (functionally speaking) is as a filter, or any filtration system. Filtering out the bad, negative, or malignant things and making use of the good or positive things. This can be a reference to using to our minds as conscious filters, or our mouths as filters before we speak. Unlike in our bodies and in nature however which naturally dispose of the negative (or Co2) our minds largely retain most impressionable moments, and while memories are not always salient they can be prodded or provoked. Metaphorically speaking, minds and lungs in very few but notable ways can serve the same function.
